Chinoiserie Easter Eggs

UPDATE: Post your Easter Egg GIVEAWAY comments on this post. Details on Instagram.

I'm not an over the top seasonal decorator but painting is "my therapy"
and there's a lot of crazy going on right now so late night painting sesh it is!!

I purchased plain white plastic eggs.
They aren't the slick, shiny plastic ones that open into 2 parts.
 They have a matte finish.

They are actually pretty realistic looking
and the same size as a real grade A large egg, I think.

I used a small (very, very small) paintbrush and acrylic craft paint.
This is a very quick and simple project.

The matte finish is very easy to work with and dries very quickly.
I painted a dozen eggs in one sitting!

If you "hunt" around you will find Chinoiserie Easter eggs
tucked in here and there all around the house!

See my blue and white Chinoiserie Christmas ornaments here and here

  1. I’m using this time to complete the unfinished home projects I never get around to: cleaning out/organizing cabinets/closets/drawers and painting a few small pieces of furniture!

    1. I did some cleaning on Sunday and I've got my paint deck out - I'm sure I'll paint a piece of furniture before this is over. It's what I do every time we have a rare Southern snow day!

    2. Using the time for decluttering, so that means Cleaning/organizing one space per day (even if it’s a drawer! And purposing to take an evening walk with hubs around the neighborhood. It’s good to see & be seen (from a distance, lol)!

  2. We’re playing games, watching movies, taking walks, doing yoga. :) I love these eggs and the tiny paint strokes. Beautiful!

  3. These eggs are so cute! I'm working from home, but I hope to carve out some time for a few organizational projects in the kitchen. Our utensil drawer and junk drawer could really use some love. I also need to catch up on laundry, but that's never fun. :)

    1. I'm still working as well - I can go into our empty building and work from home as well. The flexibility seems to free up time for some creative fun. I hope you get your projects done too!

  4. What great talent! I can barely draw a stick figure. I’m so full of gratitude that my family is all home under one roof, that’s a gift! We will all get through this and stories of human kindness will be all over the news! Thank you for your kindness in sharing your talents with all of us!

    1. Thank you! Yes, we are all home/in town - amazingly. I have friends all over the place (Non-profit/NGO/Mission workers) and they are either hunkering down where they are to ride this out or trying to make their way home. And yes, we will get through this and I am already reading such great stories.Stay healthy!

  6. I love these eggs! I wish I had artistic abilities!
So far, our social distancing has involved hiking in the woods with the dog and yesterday, my daughters & I had a weeding "party" in the yard! It looks so great now!

I've been doing a lot of food prep, cooking and freezing lately. I also cooked dinner for my neighbor who has special needs yesterday.

Favorite book I've read lately is Where the Crawdads Sing....so good!

Favorite recent Prime shows: Mentalist is SO good and has many seasons. Also, I just finished the only 2 seasons of Absentia and its a very well-written and suspenseful drama, but not for kids.

I have a long list of Netflix and Amazon prime favorites if you're interested!

    Happy Monday!

  8. I love these eggs and everything else you paint! What a kind thing to do, so you! I'm very grateful we have food and supplies and praying for health and safety especially for those who are more susceptible. Planning to repaint a bathroom, piece of furniture, clean and do an early spring clean up in the yard. Hope I actually do some of these things!! :)

  10. I have already been using our social distancing time to get some things done around the house, I spent 7 hours on Saturday weeding, power washing and sealing our paver patio with my family, then we went to a sparsely populated beach the next day. It’s all about balance- tomorrow it’s cleaning out the garage. I love all of your hand-painted blue and white- these eggs are no exception! 💙🥚🏯

  11. We have a large drawer where we put all of the soaps, shampoos, etc that we take from hotel rooms when we travel. Today we emptied it out and made “gift bags” of toiletries to take to the local soup kitchen, where they will put them in the hands of clients that need them most. Took over 3 hours for my teenage son to finish (it’s a BIG drawer). Kept him occupied + he got service hours for school + emptied a needed area of my laundry room + helped others in our community. 12. I originally fell in love with blue and white china years ago at my college boyfriend’s grandparent’s home on Sea Island. His grandmother had collected decades of blue willow china and I then started my own collection. So I just love these sweet little eggs!! Using this week to catch up on the projects I’ve been pinteresting for months and get to painting a few chinoiserie scenes I’ve been dying to do. Be safe! Xoxo

    1. Sounds like a productive time. And I love that somebodies grandma inspired your collection. So sweet. Would love to see your Chinoiserie paintings too!

  13. What is it about "Blue Willow" that is so irresistible? I've been drawn to it for decades now. Lovely eggs!
I'll be painting the interior of my house white, doors, trim and ceilings, all of them throughout the house. I don't care if it's in style or not, I love white interiors!
I'll also be coming up with a way to do some delivering for my husband's restaurant, closed to the public for social distancing. After 20 years, if our delivery idea isn't popular with the neighborhood, we'll be out of business in two weeks, maybe one.

    1. I'm all about white, white and more white! I will pray that your neighborhood that has loved your restaurant for 20 years will support you now! Twenty years in the restaurant industry is an accomplishment and speaks to your following. I hope they will be there and help get you and other privately owned businesses through this!

  14. Absolutely love your chinoiserie eggs! Several weeks ago I placed disposable plastic gloves along with hand sanitizer in my car to wear while pumping gas, shopping and even in the gym. Now that we are restricted I'm organizing closets, checking on older friends and spending time during these beautiful warm afternoons either working in my garden or reading on our patio in order to soak up those healthy rays!

    1. I'm glad to hear you are having warm sunny afternoons to soak up rays! Here in Atlanta we have had a lot of rain but yesterday afternoon was sunny and I got started on a bumper crop of weeds that sprung up in the backyard. Stay well.
